After the events of October 7th, the Museum of Italian Jewish Art and the SLS Academy of Art joined hands in creatingd a special project for evacuee children who were residing in Jerusalem. The purpose of the project was to give the children artistic tools for self-expression, thus trying to ease the effects of the traumatic experiences they have had. The project lasted three months and about 20 children aged 6-12 participated in it. The project revealed the children's dreams, hopes and pains, and reflected the improvement in their mental state.
A year after the outbreak of the war, Mental treatments and tools for mental coping, especially among children, are still very much needed. The target audieance now includs not only these directly affected by the October attack, but also children of wounded soldiers, and children traumtized from exposure to online content- all exhibiting the same symptomes of trauma.
Therefore, it was decided to expand the project, with the aim of reaching more children and giving them, at no cost, more tools for coping and self-expression- this time through art.
