TALMA - English for Change

By TALMA: The Israel Program For Excellence in English

Sponsor Students Affected by October 7th and the Ongoing War

Ends: 22:00

Donors: 11

Since October 7th, 2023, TALMA Israel’s Fellows have been volunteering to provide vital English education, fun, consistency, and hope to the students most affected by the ongoing situation in Israel. These include children from Kibbutz Kfar Aza; the Gaza border communities of Kibbutz Sa'ad, Kfar Maimon, Ma'agalaim, and Beit HaGadi; and at-risk youth and children evacuated from the north and the south living in a Youth Village. We need your help to continue to fund this mission throughout the uncertainties of the coming weeks and years.  We appreciate every dollar, and even a small donation can make an immediate impact. Where will your money go? • $25: Sponsor a student to receive TALMA English education for one month • $150: Provide science materials for one of our “Science in English” STEM classrooms • $250: Sponsor a student to receive TALMA English education for one year • $500: Equip a classroom with essential materials for English studies for a whole school year Our goal is to raise $37,500, allowing us to sponsor 150 students affected by the war for an entire school year. Together, we can help inspire these children to learn, grow, and heal through the power of education. Donate today to support our mission and bring hope to a child in need. About the Non-Profit  What We Do: TALMA: The English Program for Excellence in English provides high-quality English education to underserved communities across Israel, including students in the country’s geographical and social periphery. By embedding experienced educators in schools for a full academic year, TALMA ensures students receive consistent, immersive English instruction that fosters confidence, improves language skills, and opens doors to future opportunities. This year, TALMA English teachers have dedicated themselves to working with students affected by the terrorism of October 7th, and the ongoing war. Why We Do It: Students in Israel are entitled to three hours of weekly English language education during the school year, but there simply aren't enough qualified English teachers to meet that need. In the low-income and peripheral communities where we operate, English is often the first program cut or reduced due to a lack of qualified educators.  Considering the increasing importance of English in higher education and the workplace, students without English learning opportunities are at a serious disadvantage. Why Support Us: TALMA isn't just any education program, it is a social movement made possible by the dedication of passionate educators who believe so strongly in the importance of educational equity that they volunteer their teacher talents. Our educators - TALMA Fellows - are motivated by TALMA's vision that English, as the lingua franca, is a tool that can enable underserved children to unleash their potential, break poverty cycles, open doors, access opportunities, and enable their voice to be heard on a global stage.
