Supporting the Return Home of Hanita Community

Dear Friends, We invite you to join us and take part in an exciting journey that began 87 years ago on a mountaintop in the Western Galilee of Israel. Today, more than ever, this journey continues to write its new chapters. This is the story of Hanita, a community that, despite all the challenges, never lost its way home. Kibbutz Hanita – Our Story Hanita, a pioneering Zionist Kibbutz community was established on March 21, 1938, as part of the "Homa Ve Migdal" operation (Tower and Stockade settlements). The first settlers settled the land under difficult and challenging conditions, out of a belief in the righteousness of their path and a desire to settle and build the land. Hanita is located at a strategic point for the State of Israel, bordering the Lebanese border fence, overlooking the Galilee region, from Nahariya to the city of Haifa. Hanita has become a symbol of courage and heroism, serving as a beacon of resilience and steadfastness in the face of any challenge. Hanita has known ups and downs over the years. The kibbutz members have had to deal with many security challenges, from the War of Independence in 1948, through the Yom Kippur War in 1973 and the First and Second Lebanon Wars in 1982 & 2006, a murderous attack and family tragedy that affected the entire community in 2002, up to the events of October 7, 2023. Despite the constant threat, Hanita never gave in. The residents showed resourcefulness, courage, and mutual responsibility and continued to develop the kibbutz and thrive in it. On October 7, 2023, due to escalation in the security situation in the north of Israel, we were all displaced from our homes and dispersed to about 90 different communities across the country. Despite the challenges, the uncertainty and the longing for our home, we tried to maintain active community life through joint activities and mutual support. The spirit that led our founders continued to beat within us – Hanita is not just a geographical place, but also a real home. Our spirit is strong and we are ready to return home and rebuild it. Returning Home - An Opportunity for Renewal Now, we stand before another historic moment. On March 21, 2025, the day of the historic immigration to Hanita, we aspire to return home, to climb up the mountain again, this time stronger and ready to build a better future. We aspire to make Hanita a place that will allow our families to build a strong, flourishing prosperous community. We see Hanita as a symbol of sustainable Zionism, renewed revival, and a window to the future. We invite you to join our journey and support Hanita residents' return home.
