Commemoration of Captain Alon Safrai Z"L
By פאר ישראל - להאדרת בית הכנסת ברחוב הפורצים, ירושלים (ע"ר)
From Grief to Renovation of Synagogue Peer Israel
Donors: 451
Israel’s hero, Captain Alon Safrai Z"L was an Armored Corps officer who fell in battle in southern Lebanon on the evening of Simchat Torah 5785 (2024). Alon was a medical student at the Technion and a paramedic volunteer at Magen David Adom. His father honors us with his presence in the first minyan on weekdays at our synagogue in the old Katamon neighborhood in Jerusalem. Parts of the synagogue's building contain asbestos that needs to be removed, and the building needs to be adequately restored.
We want to honor Alon by dedicating the renovation of the building after removing the public health hazard to his blessed memory. Alon wanted to dedicate his life to public health and gave his life out of love for the People of Israel. This tribute will be in Alon’s spirit—an honor to our small Temple (מקדש מעט) along with concern for public health, renovating our facility as a place worthy of prayer and love of Israel.
We invite you to contribute a donation to the commemoration of Captain Alon’s blessed memory.
"And why is he called Ishmael? As in the future, the Holy-One-Blessed-be-He will hear the people's [Israel] moan from what Ishmael’s children will do in the land at the end of the days. Therefore, his name is called Ishmael, as it is said: "God will listen and punish them." (R. Eliezer’s Chapters 32)
We sincerely thank you for your partnership and solidarity.
