The Warm Home for Cancer Patients in Afula – Extending Our Work From the Hospital to a True Home The Bedarcey Tamar Association operates throughout the week inside Emek Medical Center. Our volunteers and National Service participants distribute food, drinks, and baked goods to pediatric oncology patients and their families, in collaboration with local businesses in Afula. We provide personalized support to each child, including tailored care packages and individual “comfort kits,” offering warmth, attention, and strength during the most challenging times of their lives. From this daily work, a pressing need became evident: Afula faces a unique hardship — unlike hospitals across the country, Emek Medical Center has no dedicated facility for the families of cancer patients, who desperately need a quiet place to rest, regroup, and receive support during treatment. This is why we founded the Warm Home for Cancer Patients in Afula. We purchased a property adjacent to the hospital through a mass fundraising campaign, contributions from families, and a loan — and now we are working to turn it into a true sanctuary for families. Development Stages of the Warm HomeStage One The house will open for two families, offering: • Two fully equipped guest rooms • An accessible kitchen • A private, organized entrance • Essential furnishings for a dignified stay The planned opening is in the month of Tevet. To complete this stage, we must raise 350,000 NIS. Stage Two We will expand the house to accommodate five families, including: • Three additional guest rooms • A dedicated holistic treatment room • High-standard furnishing and equipment This phase requires an additional 450,000 NIS. The association operates with full transparency and holds Proper Management Certification for 2026 as well as Section 46(a) authorization, allowing tax-deductible donations.
