Almog Sarusi dedicated his life to giving. Now, it’s our turn to continue his path.
The light he spread will never go out - in our actions, in his memory, in the fulfillment of his dream.
In every sapling we plant, in every child we save - Almog will continue to be with us.
On the 7th of October Almog went to the Nova festival with his partner, Shachar, and his friends. From the moment the massacre began, he tried with all of his strength to save his beloved Shachar Gindi - May her memory be blessed- and to save others as well, all while he had sustained gunshot wounds to his arms and legs.
Almog survived the massacre but was kidnapped to Gaza. Throughout 11 months of captivity, he fought bravely in inhumane conditions, and coped alone with a serious injury.
On August 29, 2024, the terrible moment came - Almog was brutally murdered alongside five other hostages: Hirsch Goldberg-Polin, Eden Yerushalmi, Carmel Gat, Ori Danino and Alex Lobanov- May their memory be blessed.
Everyone was certain that Almog would return and would tell his story. All of his friends who were with him were murdered.
But Almog's story does not end here.
"There is nothing better than being good" - this was his way, and this is the legacy he left us.
Almog believed in actions: he taught youth from disadvantaged backgrounds for free, He bought food for needy families, dreamed of settling in the Negev or the Galilee and establishing a warm home for at-risk youth. All of his life, he acted in kindness to others, and always had a big, radiant smile on his face. Almog had a deep love for the land of Israel, and traveled north to south, and east to west with his guitar. He was intentional in always speaking positively.
There is no better way to commemorate him than to fulfill this vision.
We will continue his journey with three meaningful projects:
1) Agricultural Project in the Negev - 80 dunams of grapes and pistachio fields as a first step towards settlement. This area will also be used to spread Almog’s story and values to pre-military preparatory schools, youth movements, cadets, visitors, and various audiences who will come together in the field amid the terrible and difficult events that befell the nation of Israel on October the 7th.
2) Values Education - a curriculum for delivering lessons in values in the spirit of Almog, lectures in schools, synagogues and other audiences. The program is already being implemented at the "Asher Ruach Bo" preparatory school in Mitzpe Ramon, at the "Aviv" high school and at the "Paamonim" high school in Ra'anana. The curriculum is based on 5 of Almog’s value: leadership, friendship, acts of kindness, love of the land of Israel, and positive speech.
3) A “warm home” for at-risk youth - will be established in Ra'anana, the city where Almog was raised and was educated. The home will provide hot meals, enrichment classes in math, english, music, and Judaism, and will support the youth towards building a successful future.
For this to happen, we need you.
Your donation will help us to actualize our goal and the dreams of Almog.
The organization operates on a non-for profit basis. Every shekel goes to the benefit of the people of Israel, just as Almog would have wanted.
Together, we will continue his legacy - to illuminate the world with goodness, giving and unconditional love.
