Dear Friends,
These days, the people of Israel are experiencing the deepest and most extreme crisis since the Holocaust. We were
attacked on Shabbat, by a cruel enemy, with a Nazi ideology, who planned to harm us on the day of our holiday, because
he recognized a division and a deep rift between different parts of Israeli society. The barbaric plot has turned the
holiday of Simchat Torah into a bitter and dark day in our history.
The despicable terrorists did not imagine that the very disaster they inflicted on our citizens is the one that will awaken
the sections of the people, a deep and sober awakening, because the order of
the hour is a to consolidate and neglect petty differences, the insignificance of which, in the face of our unity, was
illustrated to us in a clear and transparent way.
The people of Israel have woken up - and it is clear to the people of Israel today, more than ever, that this is the time to
dismantle the barrier between us, to settle meaningless disputes - and to concentrate on common ground. All this, with
the recognition that we are all together in one collective shared destiny. This insight - and above all, acting in accord to
this insight, will lead us to inner peace - and from there to powerful resilience, to a better future, physically and spiritually.
Itay Shlomo, the salt of the land, a resident of the Elah Valley, a member of the glorious Moreno family, fell in a daring
battle with terrorists in the Zikim area. 17 years ago, Itai's uncle Emanuel-Yehuda, may God avenge his blood, was
killed in the Second Lebanon War. Thus in recent generations, we fight for our independence, in those days and in this
time. Itai-Shlomo, as a member of a fighting family, insisted on enlisting in the reserves with his Magellan teammates,
to fight alongside them and to command them - this terrible loss, tore the hearts of the family, friends and community in
Moshav Aderet, which raised Itai-Shloma Moreno to glory - and illustrated the urgent need to bring the The amendment
to which the Israeli nation aspires.
The path of Itai-Shlomo, the complete, enlightened person, who always strove to settle disputes in a pleasant way, who
was endowed with the vision of the good and the common - and received each person with a bright face, with a smile
full of joy and acceptance, is for all of us, in the Moshav Aderet community, an inspiration and a command to do the
right thing. Already at the Shabbat morning prayer "Parashat Berashit", during the seven days of mourning, Moshe, Itai-
Shlomo's father, declared to the entire audience: "For the light and memory of Itai-Shlomo, we will create a new vision,
there will be no more Sephardic or Ashkenazi synagogues, from now on, We will all pray together, all the different prayer
formats, jointly and combined..."
Moshe's idea expresses the desire for connection, for the elimination of the artificial separation between Jew and Jew,
between origin and origin, between community and community. We are all one people, we are all partners - and our
heritage is one.
The Aderet community sees the foundation of the synagogue, which is being built in the moshav, as an
opportunity to realize in practice, the vision of unity of the people of Israel. We will not leave the ideas as just an
idea, we will realize them here and now in the joint synagogue building. The Aderet community will implement
this vision within itself - and work to be an inspiration to all our brothers of Israel.
Up until now, the Aderet community has built the skeleton of this special synagogue, with funding from residents'
and friends' donations. We intend to erect the synagogue, operating on the basis of the vision of unity, by the coming
Passover. Thus, this year the holiday of renewal will also include the national and traditional worldview of all of us.
God willing, we will do and succeed, with the love of Israel and prayer for the peace of our country, our soldiers and all
the brave defenders of our people.
