10 Years Without Shira – We Won’t Let Hate Define Our WayTen years have passed since the tragic murder of Shira Banki — a teenager who marched for tolerance and acceptance, and was killed for it.
Since that day, we’ve vowed that hate will not win.
The Shira Banki Way was founded in her memory and is now one of Israel’s most impactful initiatives promoting tolerance, dialogue, and mutual understanding in education and public life.
In a time when polarization is rising and public discourse is often driven by anger and fear, we work to create a different path:
🔹 A path of listening, not shouting
🔹 A path of empathy, not exclusion
🔹 A path of hope, not hate
And today, this work has never been more urgent amid war, collective grief, and national trauma.
As pain and division tear at our social fabric, we bring people together: Jews and Arabs, secular and religious, left and right.
We remind ourselves and others that disagreement doesn’t need to lead to hate, and that we share a future that demands respectful dialogue.
From classrooms to communities, we help teens and educators develop the skills to handle disagreement with respect and compassion.
This year, marking a decade since Shira’s murder, we are launching a major fundraising campaign to grow our impact and ensure that the voice of moderation continues to be heard in Israeli society.
We need your support to continue working in schools, youth movements, and public forums, promoting empathy over extremism and connection over conflict.
Let’s make sure Shira is remembered not only as a victim, but as a path forward.
Donate today. Let’s keep walking Shira’s way — for a kinder, more united Israel.
