Mental Health Support Program- Shaldag Foundation
By עמותת יוצאי שלדג (ע"ר)
Since the October 7th attacks, Shaldag—one of the IDF’s most elite special forces units—has been at the forefront of Israel’s most dangerous missions in Gaza. Known for its operational excellence and secrecy, Shaldag has endured unimaginable trauma and the devastating loss of 13 courageous soldiers. These heroes continue to risk their lives daily. Now, we must ensure they have the psychological support to carry on.
Why It Matters
Behind every mission lies a human being—someone’s son, brother, partner, or father—who carries the weight of war long after leaving the battlefield. The emotional toll on our fighters is deep and lasting, and without immediate intervention, the scars of trauma can become permanent.
Mental health is not a luxury. It is mission-critical.
What We’re Doing
To address the escalating psychological needs, we’ve tripled our mental health capacity, deploying a dedicated team of professionals:
·• Group processing sessions that foster solidarity and shared healing
·• One-on-one therapy tailored to the trauma and stressors of elite combat
·• Biofeedback and trauma technologies that provide cutting-edge, nonverbal healing tools
More than 500 Shaldag soldiers and support teams have already received care in Israel, and over 150 have participated in week-long recovery retreats abroad—in Romania, Greece, and France.
Our Urgent Need
To sustain and expand these life-saving services, we must raise $500,000 immediately.
These funds will:
·• Continue our comprehensive in-country care
·• Provide overseas resilience journeys for reserve combat teams
·• Deliver urgent psychological interventions for at-risk individuals
·• Extend care to families, spouses, and bereaved parents navigating unimaginable grief
