Saluting Barak Spector

Ends: 08:30

Donors: 590

Major (Res.) Barak Spector was selected and enlisted into the Maglan unit in 2008. He served as a combat soldier, team commander, and platoon commander. Since his release from regular service, he has continued to serve in the reserves consistently, driven by a deep sense of duty and responsibility—while also managing a successful events business. Following the events of October 7th, Barak rejoined the reserves without hesitation, making significant personal sacrifices, always placing the greater good before his own (he closed his business due to the intensity of the fighting). Since then, he has been serving as a combat team commander, engaged in ongoing operations across various fronts, alongside the regular unit. During one of the operational missions deep in the Gaza Strip, Spector’s team was assigned to capture and clear a building suspected of hiding underground enemy infrastructure. While scanning the second floor, Barak identified a suspicious object. He made the critical decision to evacuate the entire team to the first floor and called in a designated bomb disposal unit to investigate. That decision saved the lives of many soldiers. The object turned out to be an explosive device, which detonated on-site—Barak was seriously injured in the blast. After multiple surgeries and intensive care, his condition stabilized. On June 19th, he was evacuated from Soroka Medical Center due to injuries sustained from a missile strike. He is currently in rehabilitation. While his life is no longer in danger, the road to recovery is long, and the rehabilitation process will be intensive and significant. Barak is a true lover of life, a warrior and field operator at heart. He is a precise combat driver, passionate about technology, and driven by curiosity, responsibility, and an inner desire to do gooe want to support him during this time—to make his recovery a positive experience and allow him some peace of mind. To focus on healing, on himself—so he can begin a new chapter.
