Le’tzidech (By your side)

The lives of thousands of women in Israel have been dramatically transformed due to the injuries their loved ones sustained on the battlefield during the Iron Swords War. The wives of the wounded face daily complexities across all areas of life. They manage the medical and physical rehabilitation of their partners; they singlehandedly run the household and care for the children; they support the emotional needs of the entire family, which have intensified due to the injury; and at the same time, they must maintain their employment in order to avoid financial hardship. To do so, these women are required to mobilize enormous physical, emotional, and financial resources. Out of deep familiarity with the challenges and needs of these women, the organization Lifros Kanaf created the “Le’tzidech” (“By Your Side”) program. The program aims to build support systems for the wives of the wounded and give them the opportunity to shift from a crisis mindset to one of growth and personal development. As part of the program, groups of women whose partners were injured are formed across the country, and each group undergoes a six-month-long process together. Participation in the program enables the women to build meaningful relationships with others in similar circumstances who live nearby. These bonds evolve into a lasting community that continues to serve as a support network and sense of belonging even after the program ends. Throughout the program, the women are given the opportunity to create social initiatives that serve the wider population of partners of the wounded in Israel. These initiatives hold dual value: 2. They allow participants to engage in meaningful, creative work that inspires them and strengthens their sense of purpose and self-worth, thereby improving their emotional well-being. 4. They create broader impact by helping other women who are not directly part of the program.
