Dear friends, This is the story of one man — we’ll call him D. But truly, it’s the story of many. Soldiers who fought, returned — and shattered. Fathers, husbands, friends left with scars no one can see. The invisible wounded. D was called up for reserve duty on Simchat Torah. He carried bodies. He fought. He defended. After six months on the front lines — a child was born. And in that moment of joy, holding a newborn in his arms — everything collapsed. The memories. The pain. The helplessness. Since then, a freefall. But not everyone sees the fall. The child who used to have Dad walk him to kindergarten doesn’t understand why Daddy no longer has mornings. The daughter who used to laugh with him every night doesn’t understand why he only sleeps. And his wife? She now carries alone what used to be shared: The children. The finances. The anxiety. The crushing uncertainty. The system isn’t built for this moment. When a soldier is also a father — there’s no framework, no support, no one listening. That’s why OneFamily created the “Back to Life Fund” — an initiative that puts the family at the center. The fund provides direct financial assistance to families coping with a parent suffering from PTSD. Because we know: For a wounded soul to heal, the entire family needs to breathe.
