"The Emperor of Atlantis" - an opera by Viktor Ullmann

We invite you to join a remarkable project: the first Hebrew-language performance of Viktor Ullmann and Petr Kien’s powerful opera The Emperor of Atlantis, composed in the Terezín Ghetto during the Holocaust. This allegorical and satirical work is an act of artistic resistance — a bold response to tyranny, written under unimaginable conditions.Despite its historical and artistic significance, The Emperor of Atlantis is rarely performed in Israel and the world. In a time of uncertainty — locally and globally — this opera reminds us to listen again to voices once silenced, and to reflect on the values we uphold today. About us:Into the Light is a cultural initiative founded in 2022 by "The Spectacular World of Jewish Music", and is dedicated to reviving music by Jewish composers persecuted in the Holocaust. In a short time, we’ve produced major concerts in Israel and abroad — including a gala concert (see here: https://www.youtube.com/playli...). This upcoming production marks a milestone in our work and is made possible through partnerships with two of Israel’s leading ensembles:  • Carmel Quartet – an award-winning chamber ensemble performing internationally and recognized for artistic excellence. • Meitar Ensemble – a central voice in contemporary Israeli music, working with top composers and performers.
