Give Tikva (Hope) a reason to smile

Friday noon, in the middle of a terrible heatwave. A 13-year-old dog was thrown away to die in a cruel pound by the very people she thought were her family. We couldn’t stay indifferent – everyone came together, and we rescued her immediately. We named her Grandma Tikva (Hope), and for the past two weeks she has been in a loving foster home that is healing her heart. But her heart is not the only problem – Tikva’s body is in pain. Thirteen is not so old for a small dog, but it’s clear that life and people have not been kind to her. Her teeth are ruined, her eyes are inflamed and her vision is impaired, and her legs need X-rays and examination. Surgery may no longer be possible, but with proper treatment she can still live with dignity, with love, and without unnecessary pain. This is our moment to show her that the world can be kind.
