Orot Eliraz-Shay Lchaim

“Shai for Life” is a unique Beit Midrash established in the heart of Jerusalem in memory of Major Shai Shmeriz, a commander and warrior who managed to combine the world of Torah and the world of action in an amazing way. The project was born from a deep reading of reservists and young people who returned from long service — and want to maintain their inner fire even in their civilian life. It is a place that connects Torah, values, and friendships, between the worlds of spirit and action, and allows former soldiers to find a true and meaningful connection — to themselves, to their lives, and to their Judaism. Every two weeks, a closed group of reservists meets for an evening of study, conversation, good food, and fellowship. Evenings in which a true group of people who have given of themselves to the state - and continue to give of themselves to the people of Israel - grows. The project is carried out entirely on a voluntary basis, and is made possible thanks to donations from people who believe in the deep value of combining Torah, action, and giving. Every donation helps to continue operating the meetings, fund the food, the venue, and the content – and provide reservists with an experience of meaning, belonging, and growth.
