Yeshivat Hashem Roi - Kollel L’Tzirim

Rabbi Royale Schonbrun, the founder and Rav of the Zichron Moshe shul in Har Nof, built a shul where the youth are the forefront of everything we do. As he was involved with the boys, he realized the importance to give the boys a place where they can grow in their Torah and avodaas hashem in a caring non stressful atmosphere. The shul became a place where boys loved to come and davening was no longer just a chore. He decided that the boys needed a place where they can learn independently without the formality of avos ubanim or a school setting and where we can also expose them to the skills to analyze the commentaries of Rashi and Tosfos on the Gemara and the commentaries on chumash which opens them up to the beauty of the Torah, something they do not get as much of in the school setting which is more focused on amassing knowledge. What started out as a few boys on Friday afternoon has now grown into more than 25 boys. The boys learn independently or with chavusos and I give them personal attention and learn with them in small groups over the 2 hour learning session. The cost to run the program on a weekly basis is quite high and can easily reach over 1,000nis depending on the amount of boys as we give each boy a stipend, we have a lottery for another cash prize as well as the need for refreshments and potentially other prizes as well.
