Safe Rooms in Ben Shemen

These past two years have challenged us in ways we never could've imagined. We were shaken to our core by the terror attacks of October 7, 2023, and carried the weight of stress, loss, fear, and the worldwide antisemitism that continues to grow with each passing day. In our darkest moments, however, we've also carried hope, strength, and an unwavering commitment to Israel and all her people. With the support of people like you - our funding partners, Summer and Full Year Fellows, alumni, and friends - we were able to step up in meaningful ways to serve our communities during the war. From tutoring teenagers displaced from Sderot, to distributing school supplies in Ben Shemen and Eilat, to leading creative arts activities for children evacuated from Otef Aza, TALMA did as we always do - expand our impact beyond the four walls of the classroom. Our global alumni network stepped up as well, collectively volunteering thousands of hours of virtual English tutoring and homework help. Today, TALMA leads English education initiatives all over Israel, including in Ashkelon, Sderot, Kibbutz Ruhama, Ben Shemen, Eilat, and Jerusalem. As we continue to grow our impact, we turn to you for help with a crucial initiative: building safe rooms for our community in the Ben Shemen Youth Village. The past two years have driven home the importance of prioritizing our safety and security; these safe rooms, which will double as meeting and learning spaces for staff, teachers, and students, will allow us to do so, while also increasing our capacity. In order to make these rooms a reality, we need your help to raise $140,000.
