Investing in our Youth & Community
By Shemesh Association (2015) (R.A.)
Be the sun to someone
Ends: 22:00
Donors: 111
About the Campaign:
In this fundraising round, the “Shemesh” Association turns to you, our partners on this journey, so that together we can continue building a strong, stable, and bright future for youth and the community.
The donations from this campaign will be used for two main projects:
The Mentha Project- Mentorship for At-Risk Youth:
A personal mentoring program for at-risk youth that gives each participant the opportunity to connect with mentors from various fields (music, technology, art, and more) according to their talents and interests.
The personal meetings help build self-confidence, a sense of capability, perseverance, leadership and most importantly, they help the youth realize their power to create change in their lives.
Following the Sun Day:
A large-scale volunteer day held annually in the city of Ashdod, where hundreds of volunteers from across the country come together to brighten the community through meaningful action and giving.
Throughout the day, we assist the elderly, renovate homes for underprivileged families, run activities for local youth, and spread hope and compassion.
The event takes place near the birthday of Ohad Shemesh, in January, as a way to continue his legacy in the path he believed in most through doing good for others.
On this day, every volunteer and participant commemorates Ohad through light, action, and the inspiration he left behind.
About the “Shemesh” Association:
The “Shemesh” Association was founded in 2015 to commemorate the spirit of Ohad Shemesh, who fell in battle in Khan Yunis as an intelligence officer during Operation “Protective Edge” on July 21, 2014.
True to his name, Ohad Shemesh was a person of light, generosity, love for others, and deep belief in every individual’s ability to make an impact.
Guided by these values, the association was established to continue his path and spread light wherevers there is a need for hope.
Important Notes:
100% of the donations go directly to the community and to fulfilling the association’s vision. Everyone involved in the association works entirely on a voluntary basis, without pay.
Any additional funds raised beyond the goal of 35,000 NIS (needed for the two projects) will be donated to additional annual initiatives by the association projects supporting youth and communities in need.
