90 Years of Educational Leadership Since its founding in 1935 by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the Hebrew University Secondary School (“Leyada”), has served as a beacon of educational excellence for Israeli leadership. Functioning as a unique “pedagogical laboratory,” the school implements advanced, renowned curricula across both middle and high school levels—efforts reflected in our students' consistently high academic achievements. We take great pride in cultivating graduates who go on to hold key positions in science, medicine, and the Israeli public sphere, equipped with critical thinking skills and a deep sense of social responsibility. The Challenge: Preserving Uniqueness Alongside Accessibility Our unique academic programs, which form the pedagogical heart of the school, are primarily funded through tuition payments. However, the economic reality has shifted. A sharp reduction in government-recognized parental tuition payments (a drop of approximately 40% compared to previous years) has created a significant budgetary gap. To maintain the school’s autonomous status and its ability to continue driving innovative pedagogical development for all students, we are required to raise external funds. The Current Reality This year, the challenge is even more complex. The security and economic repercussions of the ongoing war have undermined the financial stability of many families within our school community. Consequently, we are facing a substantial increase in requests for scholarship assistance from families struggling to meet tuition payments this year, who need our support to weather this difficult period. The Scholarship Fund In response to these challenges, we established the Scholarship Fund, designed to assist students in need. The fund provides aid for the following purposes: • Subsidizing tuition fees and participation in unique study programs. • Funding diagnostic assessments for students with learning disabilities. • Purchasing textbooks and providing additional individual assistance as needed. Our Commitment The school’s commitment is unequivocal: to enable every suitable and interested student to study at our school and fully integrate into all our programs, irrespective of their family’s financial background. We believe that financial difficulties must never be a barrier to educational excellence. Over the years, the Scholarship Fund has assisted hundreds of students.
