Joining Forces to Honor Sergeant Major Omer Nisim Bitan Z”L Friendship • Fellowship • Comradeship About the Project We are creating a memorial site in loving memory of Sergeant Major Omer Nisim Bitan Z”L. Anyone who met Omer immediately felt they had encountered a remarkable soul. He was a true friend, a soldier guided by a strong inner compass, and above all, a person who believed in kindness, in the goodness of people, and in the importance of Israel. Omer - A Story of Choosing the Light Born in Binyamina in 2001, Omer grew up with a deep love for his country and its people. He cherished his friends, was endlessly curious, loved learning, and above all, he believed in taking action. From an early age, Omer stood out as someone truly unique - generous, caring, full of humor, yet unwavering in his principles. He always stood his ground and was ready to act for the sake of others. In March 2020, Omer enlisted in the IDF. He served as a fighter and later as a platoon sergeant in the Tzabar Battalion of the Givati Brigade, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership. His soldiers trusted him completely. Omer was the glue that held his unit together - always looking out for others, lifting spirits with laughter, offering a hug when needed, and ensuring everyone was okay. On October 7, 2023, when Israel was struck by the brutal Hamas attack, Omer immediately understood that war had begun. Driven by duty and courage, he joined his reserve unit to fight, defend, and help. On October 14, 2023 (29 Tishrei 5784), Omer fell in battle at Kibbutz Nirim, killed by a mortar shell. Omer has not disappeared. He lives on - in our hearts, in our memories, in stories and photographs. To honor Omer, we are building a memorial site - a place that will keep Omer’s light shining and bring people together. The Memorial Site Located in Shivat Haminim Garden, in the heart of Binyamina, this site will be more than a quiet monument. It will be a vibrant space for community, learning, and connection - reflecting Omer’s lively presence. The site will include: • A round, shaded seating area serving as an open classroom for children and students • A heartfelt monument telling Omer’s story and honoring his memory • Inscriptions of Omer’s life mottos, inspiring those who never had the chance to know him • Spaces for sports, gatherings, and learning, open to all residents of Binyamina The site will stand at the point where east and west Binyamina meet - just as Omer connected people, hearts, and worlds. Its design and accessibility are being carefully planned with the guidance of an architect. How You Can Help To make this vision a reality, we have launched a crowdfunding campaign. We invite you to join us in this memorial project—to continue Omer’s path, the path of light. Every donation will become part of this heart. Help us build a place that not only commemorates Omer but also reminds us of what he stood for: values, love of Israel, leadership, and friendship. Some people, like Omer, stay with us forever. Please donate and share Omer’s story. With gratitude, The Bitan Family
