Preparation Centers for IDF Service

Tachl’es – Haredi Track for Regular IDF Service – is a safe, professional address for any Haredi teen considering army service. The program offers a fully Haredi identity-based environment together with serious, respectful preparation for meaningful, value-driven military service. A Haredi boy who is thinking about leaving the yeshiva system and enlisting in the IDF is usually full of fears and uncertainty. Unlike his peers in the general Israeli public, he doesn’t know the military system, didn’t grow up on the values of army service, and in most cases has no community figures around him to explain the options, tracks and implications of serving in the IDF. This gap causes many Haredi teens who are open to change to immediately rule out the option of army service – which leads to very low enlistment rates in the Haredi sector. Tachl’es – Haredi Track for Regular Service was created to change this reality. The goal is to significantly increase the number of Haredi young men who enlist in the IDF and to make army service a natural, respected and meaningful part of their life path. This is done through a continuous personal support system, tailored to high-potential candidates in the Haredi community, and close guidance for each young man at every stage: from the moment of hesitation, through the enlistment and active service, and all the way to safe and dignified integration into civilian life. The staff of the program is made up of experienced educators and community professionals, with many years of field experience integrating Haredim into the IDF in general and into combat brigades and combat tracks in particular. ⸻ What the initiative includes • Preparation centers for meaningful service Personal guidance and counseling for Haredi teens who are candidates for military service; answers to their main questions and fears before enlistment; coordination with the IDF Manpower Directorate and recruitment offices; and professional support in choosing the track that best suits each young man’s character, abilities and background. • “Tachl’es” youth program Running groups and activity hubs in Haredi population centers, where teens take part in training, workshops and guided conversations about meaningful – including combat – service. The program strengthens their sense of responsibility for the security of the state and helps them see military service as both a right and a civic duty. As enlistment approaches, we run peak activities such as marches, preparation days and intensive Shabbat/weekend programs. • Support for soldiers and alumni Ongoing accompaniment throughout basic training and the entire period of service, in full cooperation with company commanders and unit staff. The program provides social, emotional and community support for Haredi soldiers, and continues to accompany them after discharge – so they can integrate into civilian life with confidence, preserve their Haredi identity, and build a stable future in work, family and community. ⸻ With the help of partners and supporters, it is possible to stand beside every Haredi teen who is ready to take a step forward, ease his fears, and open a real, safe path for him to meaningful IDF service – and to a stronger shared future for Israeli society as a whole.
