Envisioning Israel: Democratic, Seeking Peace, Safeguarding rights, Pluralistic

The past few years have rattled Israeli society, with social and political crises as well as a crisis in values. Even before the war, a judicial coup undermined foundations of trust and cohesion, with daily attacks on the judiciary and press, diminishing checks and balances, and politicized law enforcement that weakened democratic institutions and undermined basic humanistic norms. The October 7th war deepened the pain, loss, and polarization. Our task at hand: to ensure that the state remain true to its foundational principles. To do so, we must teach them. For four decades, the Adam Institute for Democracy and Peace has done just that. Even in times of great crisis. Founded in 1987, our educational nonprofit has taught original experiential programs on democracy and peace to Jews and Arabs in schools (K-12th), universities, civil society, and the general population. We tailor our experiential learning to every age group, community, and background, adapting our programs to current events. We see diversity as a source of inspiration rather than a cause of constant conflict. Inculcating democratic values promotes tolerance and resolves conflicts across religions, ethnicities, and nationalities. Our educational programs (72 volumes and textbooks) foster and amplify human and civil rights. We facilitate multicultural encounters on equality and safeguarding rights. Some 550,000 have studied using our “Betzavta – the Adam Institute’s facilitation method”, an internationally renowned method that converts conflicts into dilemmas and is rooted in psychology, sociology, philosophy, and fun. Every day, we're inundated with requests to teach our programs on democracy and peace in classrooms, civil society, and centers around the country. But we don't have the funds to accede to all these requests.
