Kehilat Nadiv - founded in memory of Nava and David Applebaum z"l

Nadiv Community Nadiv is an independent community for religious young adults (ages 22–34) in Jerusalem, built around a simple but powerful vision: to create a place where young people can find belonging, connection, and purpose and become active builders of Jewish community. Nadiv was founded by a group of young professionals who recognized a growing need: a space where young adults could feel truly at home. Not just a place to attend events, but a community where people know one another, support each other, celebrate together, and take responsibility for creating the kind of community they want to be part of. The community is named in memory of Dr. David and Nava Applebaum z"l, whose lives embodied compassion, generosity, responsibility, and a deep commitment to others. Their values continue to guide Nadiv’s mission and the community we strive to build. Every week, Nadiv brings together hundreds of young adults through Shabbat experiences, Friday night services, communal meals, holiday programming, learning opportunities, social gatherings, volunteering initiatives, and professional connections. But Nadiv is about much more than events; it is about creating lasting relationships, meaningful friendships, and a sense of belonging that continues beyond any single gathering. At the heart of Nadiv is the belief that strong communities are not built by spectators, but by participants. Members are encouraged not only to attend, but to host, volunteer, lead initiatives, welcome newcomers, and actively shape the future of the community. Through its partnership with Ohel Nechama Synagogue in Jerusalem, Nadiv has revitalized Friday night community life, creating a vibrant young adult presence around Shabbat prayer and building meaningful connections between a new generation and the wider synagogue community. Nadiv is helping shape the future of Jewish community life in Jerusalem, one built on connection, responsibility, hospitality, and shared purpose.
