Mental Resilience – Team Combat-Processing Journeys

Sayeret Nahal is the elite reconnaissance unit of the Nahal Brigade. Its fighters and commanders undergo a demanding selection and training process and operate in some of the most complex and sensitive missions. For many alumni, the bond with the unit and with one another remains strong long after their military service ends. The Sayeret Nahal Alumni Association turns that bond into mutual responsibility. We support wounded veterans and their families, accompany bereaved families, assist alumni in times of need, help with the transition to civilian life, and respond to the challenges created by the war. One of our flagship programs is our Resilience and Combat Processing Journeys. These journeys take place within organic teams, with professional guidance, and give veterans a safe space to process combat experiences, loss, injuries, and the accumulated emotional burden of prolonged service. Dozens of teams and hundreds of Sayeret Nahal alumni have already taken part in these important journeys. We have seen their impact firsthand — conversations that finally opened, teammates who recognized when someone needed additional help, and teams that continued supporting one another long after the journey ended. But the need is still great. More teams are waiting, and as time passes it becomes increasingly clear that returning to routine does not always make things easier — sometimes that is exactly when the experiences of war begin to surface. We believe mental resilience is not a luxury. It is a responsibility we owe to those who repeatedly stepped forward to protect us, and to the families who continue to support them long after the fighting ends. The cost of a resilience journey for one team is approximately NIS 30,000. Under our “Adopt a Team” initiative, we invite partners to help fund a full journey or take part in its cost — so that every contribution helps another team receive professional support and continue the process beyond the journey itself.
