Bruria Chooses Life: Joining Her Healing Journey

6-year-old Bruria is a living example of everything that is good about dogs: she proves that joy conquers all. Bruria was found wandering in Nahariya and taken to the Yasur pound. She eventually found a home and thought it was a new beginning, but when mammary tumors were discovered, her adopters panicked and gave up. The authorities wanted to give up too, but we at KLAVLOVE decided we couldn't. We saw something else - kind eyes and a friendly, mature dog who just wanted a chance. So, we chose her. About two months ago, she was attacked by other dogs - a tragedy that, unfortunately, happens sometimes. We rushed her to the vet on a Saturday, and she fought to save her. You, our incredible community, supported us with the donations that allowed us to also perform an ultrasound to ensure there were no internal injuries. Bruria proved herself a true survivor once again and recovered (though her fur is still growing back). Despite everything, she returned to being her friendly, happy self - chasing balls and sticks, wagging her tail, and making us all laugh. However, the tests we ran when she was injured revealed a finding on her spleen. We gave her time to recover from her injuries, hoping the mass would remain static, but the latest check-up showed it has grown. She now needs another surgery to remove her spleen. Once again, we hear the calls to "let her go", that it’s "too much for a dog that belongs to no one". If you asked the statistics, Bruria shouldn't be here today. But if you ask Bruria, she’s too busy wagging her tail and looking for cuddles to listen to the statistics. We see only the life and light within her, and we refuse to give up. How could we give up on a dog that is ours? A dog who teaches us a lesson in optimism every single morning? We will fight for her just as she fights for herself.
