The David Yellin Academic College of Education (R.A)

The David Yellin Academic College of Education was founded in 1913 as the "Hebrew Teachers Seminary" in a pioneering effort to create a teacher training program that would teach in Hebrew and prepare students to teach their own classes in the Hebrew language. From its inception to the present day, the college has been responsible for training intellectuals, writers, poets, and thousands of teachers and educational decision-makers in Israel. Approximately 5,000 students study at the college, representing the diversity of Israeli society: Jews (religious and secular), Muslim and Christian Arabs, as well as new immigrants. All come together at David Yellin College to become the next generation of Israeli educators. The college offers a wealth of distinctive programs leading to bachelor's degrees, teaching certificates, master's degrees in education, and master's degrees in arts therapies (visual art, movement and dance, music, and bibliotherapy). Additionally, the college offers various certificate programs, professional development courses, and a range of unique programs. The college also operates a pre-academic preparatory program. Among the programs available are animal-assisted education and therapy, horticultural therapy, special education for children with complex disabilities, and other unique programs. In 2020, the college opened the Therapy Center for Parenting and Family, which has since gained a strong reputation in the community and throughout Jerusalem. The center was established to provide professional, high-quality care in response to the growing need for treatment of emotional, social, and behavioral difficulties tailored to children, adolescents, and families. Treatment is based on psychodynamic approaches and delivered through arts therapies, animal-assisted therapies, and parental guidance, within a safe and containing space that facilitates personal growth and development.
