Tafon Yarok

Tzafon Yarok, Green North, is a national initiative led by the Participants of the pre-military leadership gap year program (mechina) Galil Elyon to strengthen tourism, local businesses, and community life in northern Israel. Tzafon Yarok invites Israelis to rediscover the beauty of the Galilee and the Golan during the height of spring, when the mountains and valleys are at their greenest. At the same time, many northern communities are still in the process of recovering after nearly two years of disruption, and local businesses need renewed support. Taking place throughout March and April, the initiative brings together dozens of events: guided hikes, cultural gatherings, culinary experiences, volunteer activities, and environmental projects such as river and Sea of Galilee shoreline cleanups. The goal is simple: bring people back to the north, support local businesses, and celebrate the region’s natural beauty. To make this vision possible, we are raising funds to launch and operate the initiative - supporting event production, marketing, logistics, transportation, and partnerships with local communities and businesses. With the right support, Tzafon Yarok can become a new tradition in Israel’s spring calendar - inviting people to open a window to the north and take part in its renewal. This year, more than ever, following the impact of the war on northern communities, initiatives like Tzafon Yarok are essential for helping the region recover and thrive again.
