A YAD ITZHAK FOUNDATION VOLUNTEER NEEDS YOUR HELP. THE STORY OF BORUCH AND HIS FAMILY

By יד יצחק יוצאי רוסיה (ע"ר)

Let's help Boruch together. Your contribution saves a wonderful family.

Aliyah is a very joyful and, at the same time, a very difficult moment in life. Imagine that you are walking along a narrow path: to the right is a blank cliff, to the left — a precipice and a gorge. One awkward step — and you are already flying into a financial abyss. Boruch's family made aliyah in '21 and settled in Haifa. Everything started very promisingly — Boruch quite quickly confirmed his education and found a job in his specialty as a mechanical engineer, his wife went to study to be a programmer. Life was developing, the successful integration into Israeli society was in full swing, the family was joyfully waiting for the birth of their second child — and suddenly, suddenly, the whole life turned upside down almost in one moment. First, 07.10. War. A significant part of industrial construction projects was frozen. Boruch was laid off. The joyful news about the upcoming appearance of the second baby in the family was overshadowed by a "special" diagnosis of the eldest son. Aviva's courses also closed, and Aviva herself, on the grounds of the continuous bombings of Haifa, fear for the future and for the course of the pregnancy, began a severe depression. There was less and less money. They started taking loans. In March '24, Linor-Gitl was born; the baby was born weak and spent 2 weeks in intensive care. This finally finished off Aviva's health. As a result: a brief summary at the current moment — Boruch has two children on his hands and a wife who is effectively incapable of working, who is undergoing serious therapy and is physically unable to work or even independently look after the children with full strength. Thank God, in the fall they were given a place in a kindergarten for children with special developmental needs — but the kindergarten works until 16:00. The debt amounts are astronomical — the monthly payment exceeds 10,000 shekels. Boruch is actively looking for a full-time job, but for now — what is offered — is either twelve-hour shifts at factories for a minimum salary, which will not even cover the credit payments and the cost of daycare and a nanny for the children. For now — he gets by with occasional part-time jobs, not refusing any work, even the hardest. Despite the gravity of the situation, Boruch also manages to actively volunteer and help the wards of the foundation. Thanks to his active position and help, we were able to help several of our ward young mothers in heavy need — Boruch brought children's things, strollers, a breast pump, and kosher food for Shabbat for them across the whole country. Is there a way out in the current situation? There are no hopeless stories. The therapy that Aviva is undergoing is truly helping her return to normal life. Doctors have good forecasts — quite soon she will be able to go to at least partial work and return to her studies. The children are growing, the baby has started to get sick less, the eldest son was granted disability and he receives the medical procedures necessary for him. Boruch has a clear plan for getting out of the crisis and we will support him in every way on this path. How the foundation is already helping: • consultations on obtaining social housing • assistance in interaction with revaha and other social services in matters of obtaining a food basket, a discount on daycare. • assistance in obtaining temporary disability for Aviva How else can we all help? In the first place, it is necessary to repay at least part of the debts to the banks to reduce the monthly financial load on the family. Secondly, it is necessary to find a job for Boruch and pay for additional psychologist sessions for more effective treatment of Aviva. If you are looking for a mechanical engineer with vast experience and an excellent resume for a production or construction site, write to us, this will be very important and timely help. We ask you to combine all our common efforts and not let this wonderful family go to the final financial bottom. We know for sure that these guys will get back on their feet and return what was invested in their story to society manifold.
