Ruach Tzfonit- Strengthen the North

By Yeshivat Hesder Akko

Strengthening Israel’s Civilian Front in the Galilee

While Israeli soldiers defend the country’s borders, families in northern Israel are facing the daily reality of war. Parents are being called to reserve military duty. Children are living with fear and uncertainty. Communities across the Galilee are under immense pressure as the conflict with Iran and Hezbollah continues. In the city of Akko, Ruach Tzfonit (North Wind) is mobilizing volunteers, students, and community leaders to support the civilian home front. A Community Initiative Rooted in Action Ruach Tzfonit is a social initiative that grew out of the Akko Hesder Yeshiva, founded in 2003 as part of a broader effort to strengthen and revitalize the city of Akko. Today about 200 students study at the Yeshiva. They combine Torah study, military service, and extensive volunteer work throughout the community. Many of the Yeshiva’s students have been called to active military duty during the current war. After serving on the front lines, they return home not to rest, but to continue serving the people of their city. Guided by the belief that learning must lead to action, these students dedicate thousands of hours each year to educational programs, youth initiatives, and social projects that support the residents of Akko. Through Ruach Tzfonit, these efforts are organized into a network of programs that strengthen families, empower young people, and build resilience within the community. Responding to the Current War During the recent war and the current escalation in the north, the role of Ruach Tzfonit has become more critical than ever. Many parents in the region have been called to reserve duty. Families are coping with stress and uncertainty. Children are living under the shadow of sirens and ongoing security threats. Students and volunteers have mobilized to support the community by: * Delivering food packages to families in need * Operating support programs for children and teenagers * Assisting families whose parents have been called to reserve duty * Organizing community initiatives that strengthen morale and resilience Many of these volunteers are themselves soldiers who have recently returned from military service and immediately stepped forward to support the civilian front in their community. Your Support Makes This Possible The emotional and psychological impact of war does not end when the headlines fade. Communities in northern Israel will need continued support in order to recover and rebuild. Your contribution helps ensure that the residents of Akko and the Galilee are not facing these challenges alone. By supporting Ruach Tzfonit, you are strengthening Israel’s civilian front and supporting young leaders who serve both on the battlefield and in their communities. Together, we can help the people of northern Israel face these challenging days with strength, solidarity, and hope.
