AN IRANIAN MISSILE WILL NOT DESTROY OSNAT’S CINEMA DREAM
By יד יצחק יוצאי רוסיה (ע"ר)
One missile destroyed her gear, but it won't stop her vision. Help Osnat film again

Osnat’s story is a classic Israeli lone soldier tale. She made Aliyah, studied abroad, and came back specifically for the army. She served in the Combat Engineering Corps, eventually becoming an explosives instructor. After her service, she followed the path many young Israelis know: working in a cafe and saving up for university, slowly building her life and working toward her dream. Osnat’s dream has always been to make films. Every penny she earned went toward buying expensive, high-end film equipment. She was ready to skip new clothes or makeup — but she would never give up on cinema.
The Iranian missile hit the thing she held most dear. Her apartment was completely devastated — furniture smashed, documents destroyed — but worst of all, the filming equipment she had worked so hard to buy was caught in the blast.
Currently, Osnat is staying in a hotel. The situation regarding government compensation is unclear on paper, let alone in practice. Now, she has to find a new apartment — which means checks, deposits, and bank guarantees all over again. She has to rebuild her daily life from scratch. She has to start saving for her dream all over again. The blast wave didn't just hit her home; it knocked her life back several years. This is incredibly difficult, especially when you are in the country on your own.
But is anyone ever truly alone in Israel? While Osnat doesn’t have parents or a dozen siblings nearby, she has all of us. If we come together and find 50 or 100 shekels in our budgets, rebuilding her life becomes so much easier. And in a few years, we will be able to enjoy the masterpieces of Israeli cinema created by her hands.
War doesn’t just destroy houses. War tries to steal people’s dreams and their future. And that is when we must rebuild that future together.
