"You shall show deference to the elderly." -Leviticus 19:32 Each week, dozens of students from Hartman High Schools go out to distribute approximately 70 meals to elderly residents of Jerusalem. Many of them live in loneliness or face complex economic circumstances, and sometimes have no one to prepare even a single Shabbat meal for them. The work begins already on Thursday evening, when the volunteers cook together. On Friday morning, they pack the meals and deliver them directly to people’s homes, along with a smile, conversation, and genuine care that eases loneliness and strengthens intergenerational connection. The project has been operating for a decade and is based entirely on a spirit of volunteerism and a deep commitment to the dignity of Jerusalem’s elderly residents. In order for us to continue this meaningful work, we need partners along the way. Every donation, large or small, enables us to fund ingredients, packaging supplies, and the logistical infrastructure that ensures no elderly person is left without a Shabbat meal. Join us. Come be part of a chain of giving, respect, and gratitude toward the elderly of Jerusalem. The students of Hartman High Schools
