Submitting an appeal to the Hisda / Ben Zakkai decision

Donors: 38

This campaign was established to raise the necessary funds for a certified real estate appraiser, as part of an urgent appeal against the approved development plan for the Hisda / Ben Zakkai complex in Drom Katamon. The proposed plan involves the construction of two massive high-rise towers—a predatory development that drastically deviates from existing neighborhood planning policies. It lacks adequate high-quality open public spaces and is set to create severe traffic congestion. Our goal is to block a dangerous precedent that would irreversibly alter the area's character and cause direct environmental and economic harm to residents. This includes creating an alienated urban environment, problematic wind tunnels, and the permanent obstruction of direct sunlight. The latter will prevent the use of solar water heaters (Dud Shemesh), leading to increased electricity costs for 77 homes and buildings across Drom Katamon, Katamon, the German/Greek Colonies, and Baka. Furthermore, the sheer volume of units in this plan may prevent other residents in Drom Katamon from exercising their own rights to urban renewal (Ithadshut Ironit), thereby damaging their quality of life and economic property rights. If left unchallenged, this project will set a dangerous precedent for the Katamon and Colony neighborhoods as well.
