The Battle for Our Home: Stopping the Power PlantWe are fighting against the construction of a power plant promoted by the Beit Yanai Association in Emek Hefer. We will not allow private developers to turn our region into a polluting industrial zone. Emek Hefer is a peaceful home to 45,000 residents—a unique community and environmental sanctuary—and we are here to protect it. A Clear and Immediate DangerA plan is currently being fast-tracked to build a massive power plant (650–850 MW) fueled by diesel and gas. This plan was conceived behind closed doors by 18 members of the Beit Yanai Association and "Mivtach Shamir Energy," without the knowledge of the Regional Council, the residents, or planning authorities. The plant is slated for construction in the heart of agricultural fields, in dangerous proximity to numerous residential communities. It will lead to the emission of heavy pollutants that will critically harm our health and the quality of life in the region. A Wake-Up Call: We Cannot Remain Indifferent!After quiet attempts to engage in dialogue with the Beit Yanai Association failed to yield results, we realized there is no other choice: if we don't stop this ourselves, no one will stop it for us. We are launching a broad legal and public campaign to stop this planned "power grab" against the valley. The funds raised will be used for: • Legal representation and counseling before planning institutions and the project's promoters. • Strategic management and the production of advocacy materials. • Halting the project and maintaining our "ethical line": saying "Yes" only to responsible and transparent national planning.
