Supporting Evacuees at Neot Smadar during Operation Roaring Lion

In times of uncertainty, we feel that Neot Semadar’s role is to open both heart and door. With the renewal of the fighting, we opened Neot Semadar to people and families who can no longer remain in their homes because of the sirens and missile attacks. Today, around 120 evacuees are staying with us, in yurts built as part of the “Solid Ground” project, as well as in the homes of community members. Around 80% of them are families with young children. Among the evacuees are 50 children, as well as 20 older adults and pensioners who are unable to run to shelter in time. The people staying with us come from areas under constant attack. Many do not have a standard protected room in their homes, and for that reason, they cannot safely remain there right now. We are doing our best to offer not only shelter, but also a sense of stability in the midst of upheaval: a safe and quiet place to stay, three meals a day, support for children, help with daily needs, and access to protected spaces when needed. The overall cost of hosting and supporting the families is approximately 5,000 NIS per day. 50 NIS helps provide meals and basic daily needs 180 NIS helps cover one day of stay for a family 500 NIS helps support several days of hosting and care 1,000 NIS helps us provide a family with a full week of shelter, stability, and support Every donation, of any amount, helps us keep this place open and welcoming for those who need it now.
