HaMakom-Trauma Intervention Centers for Israelis abroad

Since October 7th, over 300,000 soldiers, survivors, and displaced families have  taken a backpacking journey to process the severe trauma and experiences they endured. However, far from their support systems, many discover that the trauma follows them to the treks of the Himalaya and the beaches of Goa. To support them, we established "HaMakom", founded in memory and inspiration of Captain (Res.) Ron Afrimi, who fell in the "Iron Swords" War. Our Vision and MissionOur mission is the early detection and prevention of mental deterioration among young Israelis thousands of miles from home. By providing immediate, professional and peer-based support on the ground, we increase the chances of healing and post-traumatic growth. Our Activities on the GroundWe operate two permanent support centers in major backpacker hubs in India- Arambol (Goa) and Dharamshala. These centers are operated  by social workers and trauma professionals, providing: • A Safe & Inclusive Space: A warm "home away from home" for healing and growth. • Group Workshops: Specialized trauma-focused sessions providing tools for coping and processing. • Individual Support: One-on-one support sessions and crisis interventions. • Continuity of Care: Referrals for continued professional treatment in Israel.
