There are moments that are never forgotten. A week a year when the heart beats faster. For 21 years now, we, the Shapira Center Youth, have been holding a summer camp for adults with special needs and nursing care, aged 18–40+. A whole week where they are not “different” – they are at the center. They travel, swim, fly in a hot air balloon, surf in the sea, stand on a runway in a fashion show, run in a race on wheels. A week when their parents breathe a sigh of relief for the first time – knowing that their child is in good hands, wrapped in love. A week when we give with all our hearts – and the heart opens back up. Everything is done completely voluntarily – out of a mission. And that is something crazy. Something like no other.
