5050 Initiative

The 5050 Initiative is a national initiative dedicated to creating a more equitable political system in Israel by ensuring that women are fully represented in positions of political power and decision-making.  Founded in 2022 by Yael Yechieli, the project seeks to transform the structural conditions that have excluded women from political influence.The initiative aims to ensure that every political party in Israel commits to 50% women and 50% men on their candidate lists, and that women are placed in electable positions through the zipper method—alternating male and female candidates throughout the list. It mobilizes public pressure, builds grassroots movements, and works with parties and candidates to implement binding commitments to gender parity.
