From War to Recovery for Combat Veterans

Donors: 732

Rehabilitation ended. Pain remained. Many soldiers returned from combat after injury and required a prolonged rehabilitation process. The rehabilitation ended. But for many of them — the pain remained. Injured soldiers are particularly prone to chronic pain due to the traumatic circumstances surrounding their injuries. Chronic pain after injury can become an ongoing crisis that prevents a true return to life. Most existing medical solutions focus on functional rehabilitation and learning to live alongside pain. These are important responses — but in many cases, there is another way. Groundbreaking Innovation in Pain MedicineIn recent years, a revolution has been taking place in pain science. Current research shows that, in many cases, chronic pain is not evidence of ongoing tissue damage, rather an expression of a nervous system that has remained on high alert and continues to activate the pain network. This is real, involuntary pain — sometimes intense and highly disabling. Yet in many cases, it can be changed, and even recovered from. Mibereshit — From Knowledge to PracticeMibereshit Campus, founded by Dr. Efrat Suraqui, a specialist in rehabilitation medicine, is the first multidisciplinary center in Israel dedicated to recovery from neuroplastic pain and stress-related symptoms. The campus integrates treatment, research, and professional training under one unified clinical language, and was built on extensive clinical experience in treating people with complex pain syndromes. Together with a team of 25 experienced multidisciplinary clinicians and leading international researchers, we are working toward one goal: to provide injured soldiers with a professional, coordinated, recovery-oriented response to the mechanism of pain — with measurable impact. We need your supportAt the crossroads between ongoing pain and returning to life, timing matters. Your donation enables suitable soldiers to begin this path now, with a dedicated professional team supporting them and their families throughout the process, alongside ongoing research and outcome measurement. Every donation allows us to expand this work for injured soldiers, as every suitable soldier deserves a real chance to begin a path toward recovery from pain. Your partnership enables us to establish in Israel a new language of recovery from pain and stress-related symptoms — moving beyond the management of suffering alone, toward a real possibility of recovery. One donation opens a door for one soldier. Together, we can open the door to a new approach to pain recovery in Israel. Because those who fought for our lives deserve the opportunity to return to their own.
