MAALEH FILM SCHOOL - THE ARTHUR COHN FILM CENTER

By The Maaleh Film School in memory of Uri Elitzur

Honoring Arthur Cohn. Inspiring the Next Generation of Jewish Filmmakers

Arthur Cohn, the late Swiss-Jewish film producer and six-time Academy Award winner, who created cinematic masterpieces such as THE GARDEN OF THE FINZI-CONTINIS, CENTRAL STATION, ONE DAY IN SEPTEMBER and THE CHORUS, was a long time friend of the Maaleh Film School. Whenever he could, he gave master classes to Maaleh students and presented his movies including inspirational Q & A sessions. Arthur was impressed by the artistic level and cinematic depth of Maaleh films and it is not by chance that two of his children studied at Maaleh. Arthur Cohn gave so much to the art of film while preserving his Jewish identity and was a true role model for Maaleh students. It is the greatest honor for the Maaleh Film School to pay tribute to our dear friend and mentor Arthur Cohn by naming our main building "The Arthur Cohn Film Center". The Arthur Cohn Film Center will be the heart of the renovated Maaleh Film School, but beside its use for students it will also be open to the general public for film screenings, movie lectures and cultural events. Please help us reach our goal with your generous donation.
