A Second Chance to Breathe

“A Seconn chance to Breathe” is a unique center for treating trauma and PTSD victims alongside the rescue dogs of the organization. Our organization — the Animals and Us Association (non-profit no. 580643088) — has been operating since 2017 for the welfare of animals in Israel. Since the horrific massacre, the organization has rescued, saved, rehabilitated, and treated dogs and cats from Gaza, Lebanon, and war zones. About four years ago, we established one of the most advanced and high-quality shelters in the country — a clean, spacious, and well-maintained environment where the dogs receive devoted care, proper conditions, and a dignified life until they are adopted into a loving home. From this work, the need and vision arose to expand our activities and establish a dedicated therapeutic center within the organization’s grounds for trauma and PTSD victims. Studies show that the connection between PTSD sufferers and dogs has profound and meaningful healing power. Our rescue dogs provide something that is difficult to find elsewhere: a quiet presence, unconditional acceptance, and a genuine connection. For people carrying painful experiences, this bond can open emotional doors that traditional therapy sometimes struggles to reach. This project offers a second chance — both for PTSD victims who need a safe space to breathe, process, and heal, and for the amazing dogs waiting for purpose, meaning, and a home. To turn this vision into reality, we need your help to establish the therapeutic center on the organization’s grounds and further develop it. The construction of the center and the employment of certified therapists and trainers requires significant funding. We would be very happy if you join us and become part of the force driving real change — for those carrying emotional wounds, and for the dogs who accompany them on the path to healing. Together, we can give a second chance to breathe
