Yael was a quintessential Sabra—strong, direct, resilient, and deeply warm and loving. Her connection to Israel was unmistakable, as was her devotion to her family. For many of us, a trip to Israel wasn’t complete without visiting Mackie and Yael. One memory shared by many members of our extended family is gathering around the large outdoor table on the terrace of her and Mackie's beautiful home in Jerusalem, enjoying the meals Yael lovingly prepared while taking in the sweeping view. In her memory, the Blankstein family has chosen to support the rehabilitation of the northern kibbutzim through a project at Kfar Giladi, a kibbutz founded by members of Yael's extended family, the Rotenberg family. We believe this is a fitting tribute to Yael's deep love for Israel and her enduring belief in the strength, resilience, and spirit of its people.   Kfar Giladi Preschool Playground Renovation Kfar Giladi’s preschool is creating a safe, ecological outdoor learning environment that supports children following prolonged disruption. The redesigned courtyard will include a motor-skills area for movement, balance, and physical development; a vegetable and herb garden for sensory learning and connection to the land; and a welcoming picnic area with seating, a campfire space, a traditional tabun oven, and a sink. The project will strengthen children’s security, curiosity, resilience, and sense of belonging while renewing a central setting for everyday community life.
