Zofim Lakehila Synagogue

On the western slopes of Samaria, in the community of Zofim, a truly remarkable Israeli success story has been unfolding in recent years. The “Zofim LaKehilla” congregation is far more than a synagogue; it is a living symbol of the ingathering of exiles and the unity of the Jewish people. In the midst of Israel’s complex reality, we have created an island of connection, belonging, and mutual respect. In our congregation, Ashkenazi, Sephardi, and Yemenite Jews pray side by side. The prayer tradition follows the cantor leading the service, and on Yom Kippur, two cantors chant Kol Nidrei together so that every person feels at home. Our doors are open to everyone, from yeshiva graduates to secular families who choose to celebrate bar and bat mitzvahs, weddings, and other life events with us because of the deep sense of community and belonging they find here. Our congregation is a community of service and commitment. Many of our members serve in the Israel Defense Forces and the reserves, while our sons and daughters are currently engaged in meaningful service on the front lines. Our synagogue serves as the place where we gather for strength, pray for their safety, and express our gratitude for their sacrifice. Our community is experiencing tremendous growth, but our physical home has been left behind. We currently pray in an aging portable structure that is deteriorating and far too small to accommodate our growing congregation. We have never waited for others to do the work for us. To date, our members have personally funded all construction, relocation, and development expenses, contributing hundreds of thousands of shekels without any external assistance. Today, we are launching a vital project to replace our current facility with a new and expanded building, adding an additional 50 square meters of space, at a total cost of ₪800,000. Of this amount, our members have already contributed approximately ₪350,000 from their own pockets. Your support will help transform a temporary structure into a permanent, warm, and welcoming home that can serve our growing community, embrace new families, and welcome home the soldiers who return each week for Shabbat.
