"Connection Point" InitiativeThe State of Israel is undergoing one of the most sensitive and tense periods in its history. The rift and polarization between secular and ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) communities are deepening, threatening our social cohesion. The "Bridge of Listening" initiative was born out of the understanding that real change must begin with the future generation – our youth.
This is a unique, first-of-its-kind collaboration between two prominent and respected figures in Israeli society: Shneor Weber (a Haredi media personality and social entrepreneur) and Oded Menashe (a beloved TV host, actor, and media figure known in every Israeli household). Together, they are embarking on a journey of engaging encounters with youth, aiming to replace shouting with listening, and polarization with connection and unity.
The Goal:To create a safe, respectful, and candid platform for direct, unmediated encounters between two different worlds. The objective is to dismantle stigmas, address the most pressing issues in Israeli society, and build a lasting foundation of acquaintance, reconciliation, consensus, and long-term unity.
The Need and the Challenge:Today’s Israeli youth grow up inside digital and political echo chambers that fuel fear, estrangement, and stereotypes. The complete separation between educational systems and communities prevents any genuine encounter with "the other." Without active intervention, the next generation will inherit a fractured society filled with animosity and mutual resentment.
The Action Model: Why Shneor and Oded? The power of this initiative lies in its facilitators. They are not merely group moderators; they are living, breathing role models for the youth:
• Oded Menashe: Represents the warm Israeli consensus—a beloved figure who communicates at eye level, bringing decades of experience in working with children and youth, alongside a deep understanding of secular and traditional Israeli society.
• Shneor Weber: A fresh, articulate, communicative, and open Haredi voice. Raised in the Mea Shearim neighborhood and having completed meaningful military service, he brings depth of thought, insight into the Haredi world, and a strong drive to build bridges without compromising on identity.
How It Works in Practice:These sessions are not frontal lectures, but rather active dialogues. Shneor and Oded engage in an open, at times humorous yet poignant conversation, creating a welcoming space where teenagers feel comfortable raising the most explosive topics (military draft, Shabbat, the character of the state, equal sharing of the civic burden). The goal is not to argue, but to understand, listen, and reach mutual understandings through genuine dialogue and attentive listening.
Broad Reach & Digital Impact:The impact will not remain confined within classroom walls. All sessions will be professionally and sensitively filmed and documented. Selected highlights, compelling dialogues, and profound insights from the youth will be edited into short, engaging, and inspiring social media clips (Shorts, Reels, TikTok). These videos will be widely distributed across all social platforms, projected to reach hundreds of thousands—and even millions—of views, thereby shifting and elevating the broader public discourse in Israel.
