Lighting Up Mount Ebal

By Shomron Foundation

After thousands of years, the Mountain of the Covenant is coming back to life.

Donors: 109

More than 3,000 years ago, shortly after the Children of Israel entered the Land of Israel, they stood on Mount Ebal. It was here that Joshua built the altar, and here that the covenant between the People of Israel and God was affirmed. For thousands of years, the mountain stood largely desolate, waiting for the Jewish people to return. Today, that return is becoming a reality. Several months ago, a yeshiva was established on Mount Ebal. Soon afterward, the first group of families made the mountain their home. A new community - Ebal - was born. Today, Ebal is home to 14 pioneering families, while approximately 20 young men study in the yeshiva. But this is only the beginning. Our vision is to build a thriving Jewish community on Mount Ebal - to welcome more families, build a synagogue and mikvah, strengthen the yeshiva, and create the infrastructure needed for the community to grow and flourish. We see ourselves as representatives of the Jewish people in this historic mission. But we know that we cannot build Ebal alone. We need partners who believe in this story and want to help write its next chapter. With God’s help, together we will bring life, Torah, families, and a renewed Jewish presence to Mount Ebal. This is the time to become a partner.
This is the time to take part in history.
This is the time to build Ebal together.
