,Greetings from Alon Shvut, Gush Etzion, Israel. Here in these thirsty Judean hills, we welcome the change of season with earnest prayers for healing, unity, stability, and true peace for the people of Israel and the Jewish community worldwide. As we enter the final stretch before the High Holidays, our tradition reminds us that all Jews are responsible for one another. Through our giving, we can transform our reality. The Silent War on the Home front: My thoughts are deeply focused on our soldiers and their families. Our sons, daughters, husbands, and wives have selflessly volunteered for 300, 400, or even 600 days of reserve duty (miluim). The toll on our community is immense: Invisible Wounds: Soldiers struggling with severe depression, trauma, and PTSD. Solo Parenting: Mothers and fathers working full-time and managing large households alone while their partners serve. Professional Sacrifice: Mothers, fathers leaving their medical practices to serve as emergency battlefield doctors. University students losing years of credits and opportunities. Heartbreak at Home: Children physically and mentally tucking themselves in, missing parents who have missed their birthday parties and yet another holiday season. Grief & Financial Strain: Families facing the loss of family members, and close friends in battle, or supporting loved ones through devastating physical and mental rehabilitation.
