Wikisugia - Shared Rabbinical Literture

We are all familiar with Wikipedia. The technology of social knowledge (or "wisdom of the masses") has already established for itself an important place in the world, in creating efficient databases in many fields. Motivated by the desire to make use of this tool in the field of Torah study, we, several yeshiva students from all over Israel, have set up the wikisugia website, based on the same principle. The process is simple: each user summarizes the issue or issues that he is learning, and anyone, from his home computer, can correct the information that appears on the site, add sources, or open up a new issue. Thus, a vast, high-quality database of Torah literature is being created, constantly growing and improving itself. Furthermore, every issue that appears on the website has its own "discussion page", on which the users/learners discuss the issue among themselves, back and forth, just like in the Beit Midrash; in effect, this is a virtual, ever-active Beit Midrash for learners from Israel and from all over the world, no matter what their age or affiliation. So, visit www.betmidrash.org.il or search google: wikisugia. There you can find more information about this unique venture, and see the recommendations of distinguished rabbis (in addition to those who gave their recommendations orally). Please note that this project does not belong to any particular yeshiva, nor is it identified with any particular organization. The important principle behind it is unity. Anyone who wishes to take part in the project, or even be a partner in decisionmaking, is more than welcome to do so. Wikisugia is a creation of all of us. Join us!
