Reaching Another Thousand Discharged Lone Soldiers

Every year, three thousand lone soldiers complete their military service. Some of them are new immigrants, others are youngsters without a family to support them and without a home to return to. Once the lone soldier is discharged, he or she becomes a civilian. Within a single day, they no longer have a place to sleep. If they do, it usually lacks furniture and basic electrical equipment: a bed, a fridge, a heater etc. A lack of human support and a guiding hand makes getting used to civilian life difficult. They need someone who will offer good advice to help them make the right decisions regarding work and studies. These youngsters may feel lost in the maze of Israeli bureaucracy and find it difficult to understand their rights. The youngsters are lonely. This is where the Mesheli program enters the picture, offering a wide range of services to the lone discharged soldier. Mesheli is the only program in Israel today that embraces discharged soldiers, helping them pave their personal path with all that they need, beginning with equipment for their apartment, job guidance and professional orientation, psychological treatment, handling finances, constant support and guidance for three years. The project was founded a year and a half ago, and since then, we have dealt with more than six hundred soldiers. We have become a truly supportive shoulder for them to lean on. These bold youngsters have sacrificed so much on their way, and they have stood up courageously to contribute to the state. Now, as they are released into civilian life, it is our turn to reciprocate their love and express our gratitude. Friends! We are currently heading towards the climax of our crowdfunding campaign and we need you! Our goal is to reach one thousand more lone soldiers. The basic package costs 1,000 ILS and we ask you to add your donation so that we can supply every lone soldier with the basic package. Every lone soldier who is discharged deserves a warm embrace that will guide him or her on their first steps into civilian life.
