Hi My name is Ayala Hartman and I am 21 years old. 3 years ago my life turned upside as I went from being a normal happy 11 th grader to suddenly needing an emergency Bone Marrow Transplant in order to save my life. Within one day – I began my morning traveling up to summer camp – and by the end of the day I was hospitalized in the Pediatric Hemato- onclogy Unit in Dana Hospital and placed in isolation. One room in Dana now became my home for months and my daily routine became worries, severe treatments, chemotherapy, pain, isolation and lots of daily challenges. Today, Thank G-d and with tremendous gratitude to the amazing staff of the Dana Pediatric Hemato-Oncology unit at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv, I am healthy and thriving. When I was hospitalized, I had a dream: to run a marathon. That dream, and the doctors telling me that it will be a reality, motivated me and gave me the strength to push forward. I am now fulfilling that dream by running the Tel Aviv Marathon on February 28 th , 2020!!!!! AND I am using this opportunity to express my gratitude to the hospital and its staff. I am raising funds for the Hemato- Oncology unit to use to help the families who suddenly find themselves in the place I was in 3 years ago. The needs are tremendous and overwhelming, ranging from needing financial help due to sudden loss of work, to babysitting and caring for siblings and including sudden need for housing near the hospital.
