HTML - High Tech Mentor-ship & Leadership Program

Fidel's amazing HTML (High-Tech Mentorship & Leadership program) is encouraging a new generation of Ethiopian-Israelis to lead the wayFIDEL's HTML (High-Tech Mentorship & Leadership program) is encouraging a new generation of Ethiopian-Israeli's to lead the way in leadership and excellence, not just within their own community but throughout Israeli society. The three year leadership programs serves 14-17 year olds in cities throughout Israel with large Ethiopian-Israeli populations. FIDEL is looking to expand the program to new locations. . In the first year, the teens are matched with a mentor from a high-tech company and follow a tailored learning program. Their mentors are provided from Israel's leading high-tech companies who serve as partners in the program. During the early stages, focus is also placed on group dynamics and developing a strong sense of self. The youth also explore their Ethiopian Jewish heritage in a way that encourages pride and confidence. Through collaboration between FIDEL and national programs, the next two years of the program offer opportunity to participate in an additional program encouraging excellence. In this way, HTML serves as an important bridge between the Ethiopian-Israeli community and wider society. At this stage the participants undertake their own volunteering placements within their community. During the final stage of HTML, the teens prepare for the next stage of their lives- the IDF or national service, and receive the tools to ensure that the transition leads to a brighter future. This program ensures that the future voices of Israel are varied, articulate and confident. It also creates strong role models and inspirational figures within the Ethiopian-Israeli community. To date, FIDEL's leadership programs have influenced over 300 teens, many of whom have since taken up leadership roles.
