Netu’im Student Leadership Program
By Kol Israel Haverim Alliance
Student Empowerment in the Socio-Geographic Periphery
Netu'im ("Rooted") is a two-year social leadership program targeting young adults, who are in the midst of their academic studies, and who reside and originate in Israel's peripheries. The name Netu'im means both 'saplings' and 'planted', suggesting that a sense of rootedness will empower these young people to stand firmly and proudly as they grow and blossom as leaders for their communities. The program grants scholarships to its participants, and they in turn take part in a program of group-learning sessions that shape personal identity, create identification with the local community and a sense of peoplehood, while motivating them to social action within the community.
